We're got married - Let's celebrate! ❤︎

As many of you know, we got married at Chicago City Hall on August 29, 2025. Now we want to celebrate with more of our family and friends!

We’re hosting two celebrations in two states.

First is in Chicago, near where Kelsey grew up and where we have both lived for over 10 years.

Second is in Philadelphia, near where Matt grew up, where Matt lived for several years, and where Kelsey has enjoyed several visits!

We’d love if you’d join us in either Chicago or Philadelphia, depending on your connections, ease of travel, and availability.

More details below! :)

Meeting & Engagement

We met in the wild!! We met on October 10, 2022 at a Broken Social Scene Concert at Thalia Hall in Chicago. They were playing a show in honor of the 20th anniversary of their widely acclaimed album, You Forgot It In People. A very special album to both of us, even before we met.

There’s a little bit more to the story, and why our first date wasn’t until November 16, 2022. Let’s just say it has to do with Matt being a good guy and a big Phillies fan (neither should be surprising). Ask us if you want!

We got engaged on June 18, 2025 as part of a co-planned “engagement weekend.” This weekend included some of our favorite activities: seeing a movie at the Music Box Theater, eating pie down the street, going to a very nice restaurant, doing crosswords at breweries, and visiting our 24th state together.

We also saw Broken Social Scene at their hometown show in Toronto. Feist was there! It was special.

Our Wedding Day

We got married at Chicago City Hall on Friday, August 29, 2025, with some members of our immediate families in attendance.

FAQs

Our expectation is that most people will come to one or the other. Please come to the one that you prefer. For example:

  • If you live in Chicago, probably come to the Chicago party.

  • If you live near Philadelphia, probably come to the Philadelphia party.

  • If you know Kelsey and have only met Matt once, probably come to the Chicago party.

  • If you know Matt from his pre-Chicago days, probably come to the Philadelphia party.

  • If you have a different wedding on August 29, 2026, probably come to the Chicago party.

  • If you have a big family vacation on June 27, 2026, probably come to the Philadelphia party.

That being said, do whatever you want! You can come to both! We’re not trying to keep you from anything, just trying to limit what you might feel obligated to do.

Should I come to both Chicago in June and Philadelphia in August?

Ceremony? Nope.

Dancing? If you want to! But there will not be a dance floor and that will not be the aim of our playlist.

Dinner? Yes!

Overall, think more along the lines of a “welcome party” people often do the night before their actual wedding. We’ll provide you with plenty of food and drink. We’ll all mingle. We or someone else may get on a mic and say something. But this will not strongly resemble a traditional wedding.

Are you going to have a ceremony, dancing, and/or dinner at these parties?

We’d appreciate it if you let us know which (if any) party you’re planning to attend by May 27, 2026 (a month before our Chicago party). If that date comes and you’re hoping to make Philadelphia in August but aren’t sure yet, just let us know.

When should I RSVP?

Can I bring my kids? A plus one?

Absolutely! You’re welcome to bring your kids and your plus one. We just ask that you please let us know who all is coming when you RSVP.

Truly whatever you want. Maybe not sweatpants? But jeans are fine. Remember these are at breweries — no need for a cocktail dress or suit jacket (unless you want to!).

What should I wear?

We do not have any particular hotel block or specific transportation. But parties both are fairly centrally located within their respective cities. There should be plenty of hotels, AirBnbs, etc. available to choose from. Both cities have a lot to offer! If you’re traveling we’d encourage you to stay for at least a bit longer than the party and suggest picking where you’ll stay based on where you’d like to be when you’re not at the party. Public transportation, rental cars, and Ubers are all possible, so you’ll be able to get around!

If you have any questions or would like more guidance, please don’t hesitate to ask.

How do I get to the event? Where should I stay?

Do you have a registry?

We do not. You don’t need to get us anything!
